Poker Profiles: Josh Arieh
One of the most televised Poker players ever is Josh Arieh. He was watched by millions of Poker fans worldwide through ESPN, The Discovery Channel, FSN, and even in The Travel Channel.
It has been a decade since Josh realized that a boxed job is not for him. Since he earned pretty fair at playing Poker, he decided to make it a full time career. To date, Josh's livelihood is mostly from his Poker winnings. He has already pocketed more than $3 million prize money from a very fruitful career.
Aside from the monetary benefit Josh has been getting from Poker, there are the recognitions and accolades that usually came with it. His first World Series of Poker bracelet was from the 1999 tournament. He got it by winning in Limit Texas Hold'em event. In 2005, he got his second WSOP bracelet. This time, it was in a Pot Limit Omaha event. Josh also made numerous appearances at the final tables of the yearly tournament. He had a second place finish at the Pot Limit Omaha event of the 2000 WSOP and a third place finish at the Main Event of the 2004 WSOP.
But the world renowned WSOP is not the only tournament where Josh made impressive marks. Before he went main stream, he was a serious mover at the Atlanta gambling circuit. He earned a tough reputation at Limit games due to his consistently good performances. Soon after Josh went big time, he was able to earn the respect of the senior Poker professionals he has faced at the poker table as well as the avid onlookers who followed his every game.
Josh is known at the Poker table as an aggressive player. He often resorts to verbal bullying to force out a hand from his opponents. But nevertheless, he was able to establish honest friendships with most of them. For him, it was just a game, after all. Josh may be young but his background on Poker came from the 'old school' premise that you can do everything to throw off your opponents for as long as they are within the rules. It is very seldom that you find players acknowledging their mistakes and apologizing for their being rough. Josh always did. That means every thing that he shows off at the Poker table is nothing personal. He did it all in the spirit of the game -- nothing more, nothing less.
Josh was born on September 26, 1974 in Rochester, New York. He, his wife Angela, and their three children currently reside in Atlanta, Georgia.
